Reiki practitioners: Call to arms

I want Reiki to serve as the new model for the way in which people can connect.  Connect across the miles, strengthen the intuition, strengthen our love and care for each other.  Be a compassionate force in the world.

President Obama said it at his speech in Tucson the other night:

“I believe we can be better.  Those who died here, those who saved lives here – they help me believe.  We may not be able to stop all evil in the world, but I know that how we treat one another is entirely up to us.  I believe that for all our imperfections, we are full of decency and goodness, and that the forces that divide us are not as strong as those that unite us.”

In the shooting in Tucson, the doctors are declaring it a ‘miracle’ that Gabrielle Giffords is recovering so well.  Has anybody thought that it might not only be due to the medical care, but to all the positive intention and prayers being sent her way from AROUND THE WORLD?   As soon as the shootings happened there, the news was broadcast all around.  Her name was given to billions of people.

I feel we have tools and skills that enable more healing to occur in the world and so when a practitioner hears of suffering, it is their responsibility to acknowledge it and send healing, prayer and light that way.

Be with the news.  Be with the suffering.  Be with the difficulty.  Send light.

And then, yes, return to life and the pursuit of health and happiness.  But remember, you have a responsibility to effect and be the change you want to see in the world.
